User can create public link for file or folder. Centrestack creates a URL. Anyone gets the URL can access it. It shows the file, or the folder in the browser. The external users can read the file(s) in the link. Can also download it. However, they cannot upload anything via the link.
Sometimes, you only want the external user to read the files in the public link. Do not want them to download the file. In this case, can generate public link with View Only. The feature only works for folders.
- Login web portal.
- Right click the folder you want to generate the public link and select 'Public Link'
- In Public Link setup window, click "Enable Public Link'. Click the advance setting gear icon at the end of the URL to open the Advanced Setting. Here, click 'View Only'. If needed, you can also define the expiration date for the public link.
- Click the Copy icon on the right of the link, to copy the URL to clipboard. Email to the link to anyone who needs access to the link.
- When visit the link, the external user can see files under the folder. Double click the file will open it in preview mode, to read the content. However, the user can't download any file here.
