CentreStack can be integrated with Local and Remote Active Directory (AD). You can migrate your AD users and shared folders to the Cloud, the configured NTFS permissions will be respected when users access.
Local Active Directory
When CentreStack server is on the Local Area Network (LAN), LDAP can be used to connect to the Active Directory.
Remote Active Directory
When the Active Directory is in a remote location, away from the CentreStack server (not in the same Local Area Network), you can install a Server Agent on a domain machine.
Only an Admin can download a Server Agent. Once Server Agent is installed, Tenant Admin can import Active Directory Users and file server network shares hosted on the machine.
Adding Active Directory Users
When a Local and/or Remote Active Directory are configured, when adding a New User, on the ‘Sources of New User’, you will see the Active Directory and/or Server Agent.
On User Manager, the ‘AD User’ or ‘AD Group’ will identify users added from the Local Active Directory. Users added using the Server Agent will be ‘Proxied AD User’ and ‘Proxied Group’.
When a Group is added, it doesn’t count in the user's quota of the Tenant. With directly AD integration, users under the group will be allowed to login into the system from web portal directly. There is no need to manually migrate them to the system.
If you are experiencing problems with Active Directory (AD) integration, refer to the Article 'How CentreStack Integrates with Active Directory', may help you to understand how AD integration was implemented in CentreStack, and may help you to diagnose AD issues.
