There are several different types of folders in Centrestack:
1. Regular Folders
A regular folder is not versioned and its files are stored in their original formats directly on the back-end storage of the tenant.
On the web portal's File Browser, regular folders have a "plain" folder icon without any other icons inside.
2. Versioned Folders
A versioned folder maintains a copy of each file modification in its version history. Users can revert versioned files to any of the previous versions. Deleted files remain in the folder and can be restored from the trash on the File Browser. Files in versioned folders are stored in the tenant's back-end storage, but their names will be decorated with special attributes if inspected directly in the back-end storage.
On the web portal's File Browser, versioned folders have a folder icon with a small clock icon inside of it.
3. In-Place Versioned Folders
In-Place versioning is the term given to when you enable versioning for all folders and sub-folders by default (even regular folders), including the root/home folder.
On the web portal these folders have a small computer icon inside of them.
In-place versioning can be enabled for certain types of back-end storage, such as local folder/shares, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure Blobs.
4. Attached Local Folders
Attached local folders are versioned by default. These folders are created when a user attaches a local folder to cloud from the Create Team Folder wizard on the Tenant Dashboard.
On the web portal these folders have a small computer icon inside of them.
5. Remote Attached or Migrated Folders
When you user the Server Agent to attach or migrate a folders from a remote server, the server agent will act as a proxy between the CentreStack domain and an external file server's domain.
On the web portal these folders have a small sharing icon inside of them.
