There are two main ways of sharing content with CentreStack. One is real-time collaboration via team folders, and the other is email-based content sharing. With both methods, users can opt to receive real-time email notifications when files are added, modified, or deleted from the folders. As a consequence, over time you may end up as the recipient of many email notifications from different folders and may want to disable some of them.
Administrators can manage the notifications from various locations on the tenant dashboard, but up until recently, end-users had no way of doing so. Starting with public release 10.5.6699.43831, users can now access the notifications manager from their File Browsers. Simply open the user menu on the top-right of the screen and access the settings option.
Team Folders
Here is a sample notification showing changes inside of a team folder called "Cats." Certain operations, such as rename and move are compound operations that consist of smaller actions. In this example, the 3 lines are a result of a single renaming operation.
To stop such notifications, you can go to the Folder Change Subscriptions page and remove items by clicking on the X.
If you specify an email signature under the Settings tab, then you can also add the signature anywhere in the branding email templates with the moniker {emailsig}. All templates accept this {emailsig} moniker.
You must be a tenant administrator in order to edit the email templates. However, any user can configure his/her personal signature on the settings page above to personalize and/or help identify emails from the application.
Shared Objects
When you share a folder using CentreStack, you will see an automatic entry under the Shared Objects Change Subscriptions page. This page lets you quickly unsubscribe yourself and the recipient from a shared object's notifications. If you click on the X on the right of each shared object, you will delete the share itself (not just the notifications), so use this with caution. Deleting a share will not delete the underlying files though.
The 3 types of sharing notifications above correspond to the following options from the sharing wizard.
All three notifications use the same "Folder Change Notification" template that you can customize from the Tenant Branding->Emails page. This template is used for both sharing and team folder notifications.
Option Number 1 sends an email to the share creator when the share recipient downloads a file from the shared folder (either directly or via a folder download action). The "action" listed in the changes table of the Folder Change Notification email is accessfile for downloads.
Option Number 2 sends an email to the share recipient when something changes in the shared folder. The possible "actions" for the changes table of the Folder Change Notification email are rename, updatefile, deletefile, createdir, accessfile, addcomment, and updatedescription.
Option Number 3 sends an email to the share creator when the share recipient uploads a file to the shared folder. The "action" listed in the changes table of the Folder Change Notification email is updatefile for uploads.
Other Notifications
The Notification tab of the Settings page allows you to receive a simple notification once a day with the table of changes. This template is not editable, since the body only contains that changes table. This email is sent each morning with the previous day's changes and is sent in addition to the real-time notifications above. The File Changes checkbox refers to Team Folder change notifications, while the received share folder/file notification refers to email share changes. The last checkbox on this page also allows you to subscribe to notifications from a device that you may have installed on your computer (ex: windows client, server agent).
