Overview
With recent iOS updates, Apple introduced the Preview app on iPhone, allowing users to easily view and edit images without needing third-party apps.
This feature lets you open images from files or cloud storage, make quick edits (like annotations, text, shapes), and have those changes automatically saved back to the original location.
Requirement:
This feature is available on newer iOS versions (iOS 18+). Make sure your device is updated to the latest version to see the Preview option.
How to Edit an Image Using Preview
Open the Cloud Drive app. Navigate to the image you want to edit.
Tap the three dots (•••) next to the file or long-press the image.
Select Open With.
Choose Preview app
From the list of apps, select Preview.
If you don’t see it immediately:
- Tap More.
- Find and select Preview.
Enter Markup Mode
Once the image opens in Preview.
Tap the Markup (pen tip icon).
This will open editing tools such as:
- Draw / Sketch
- Add text
- Add shapes
- Add signature...
Edit and Save the Image
Use the available tools to make your changes.
Edits are automatically saved.
Simply close the image when done.
Your updated version will be saved back to the original file location.
