Partner Portal
Anyone who is interested in Centrestack and setup a free partner account, as https://www.centrestack.com. The partner portal is used to manage Centrestack licenses. Can purchase licenses, assign to the self hosted cluster, or hosted tenant, to license them. Can view payment details/invoices here.
For self hosted Centrestack, login to partner portal, go to Private Centrestack / Self-hosted Clusters.
Here, click the shopping cart icon to purchase licenses. Click + sign to register existing self hosted cluster.
The top section also shows the total number of self hosted licenses the account has. See the screenshot below.
In the screenshot, the partner portal has 250 self hosted licenses and 2 clusters. Each cluster has 100 licenses assigned. Thus 200 licenses are used and 50 are free.
The partner can click 'ASSIGN LICENSE' link for the cluster, to adjust the licenses assigned to the cluster.
- When assign licenses, can enable/disable 'Allow Cluster to Increase User Plan Automatically'. When the setting is enabled, the self hosted cluster license assignment can auto grow, when running out of licenses.
- If a cluster license count is assigned as 0, it is unlicensed.
If you have some licenses not assigned to any cluster and you don't need them anymore, you can contact our support at ticket@gladinet.com any time, to remove the unused licenses.
Self hosted Cluster Level
After licenses are assigned from the partner portal, can login the self hosted Centrestack as the cluster admin and check the licenses assigned to the cluster. As the cluster admin, can manage license assigned to each tenant too.
- To check the license assigned to the cluster
As cluster admin on web portal, go to 'Cluster Dashboard'. Here, Cluster Info section shows total licenses assigned.
Clicking the Assigned License Count row will open the Licensing details. It shows the cluster ID, the number of licenses assigned to the cluster and how many licenses are already assigned. The number of licenses already assigned is greater than or equals to the number of users created under all tenants.
Before creating a new tenant, make sure there are still un-assigned licenses here. If all licenses are already used, need to assign more licenses from the partner portal, to the self hosted cluster first.
- Check licenses assigned to each tenant
Immediately after installation, Centrestack runs as single tenant. To create a new tenant, need to enable multi-tenancy first. See the KB article here:
https://support.centrestack.com/hc/en-us/articles/4461849796123-Enable-multiple-tenants-support-in-Centrestack
Once multiple tenancy are enabled, can create new tenant and visit Tenant Manager.
When visit Tenant Manager, can check how many users already created under all tenants. Can also check the number of licenses assigned to each tenant. Here, click 'Manage Tenant', to adjust the licenses for each tenant.
In the screenshot below, the cluster has 24 users created on all tenants. The first tenant has 3 licenses assigned. And it has 2 users created already.
- Adjust tenant license
When edit a tenant, the tenant Dashboard, My Tenant Info section shows the license/storage quota assigned to the tenant.
Click LIcense/Storage Quota, to open 'Tenant Plan'. Here, can adjust the tenant's user and storage plan. To add more licenses to the tenant, need to make sure the cluster still has free licenses.
- Allow tenant license to auto grow
As cluster admin, edit a tenant. Go to Settings, User Account & Security, Access Control. Here, can enable 'Allow tenant to increase the user plan automatically'.
If the auto grow is not enabled and the tenant runs out of licenses, adding a new user will fail.
Once enabled the tenant auto grow, if the tenant is running out of licenses, adding new users will automatically assign more licenses to the tenant, from available licenses under the cluster. If the cluster doesn't have license available and the cluster license auto grow is disabled on the partner portal, the user creation will fail.
If the cluster doesn't have free licenses and the cluster license auto grow is enabled on the partner portal, adding new user will order extra licenses on the partner portal, assign the new licenses to the cluster, and assign them to the tenant automatically. Then it will create the new user.
