In Centrestack, users can select multiple files or folders for download via the web portal, including using sharing/public links. The platform then compresses (zips) the selected items on the server, allowing users to download the resultant zip file. This compression process is executed on the Centrestack server.
However, users may encounter an error message: "Folder size is too big to download, please contact your admin to increase the limit." This occurs because the zipping operation consumes server resources. To prevent any single user from initiating a large download task that could potentially slow down the service for others, Centrestack enforces a default size limit of 1500 MB for downloadable folders. If the size of the zip file exceeds this limit, the web portal will display the aforementioned error.
For downloading large files or folders, it is recommended to use the native Windows or Mac client instead.
Should there be a need to permit users to download large folders via the web portal, the cluster administrator can adjust this setting. To do so, navigate to "Cluster Dashboard" > "Cluster Settings" > "Performance and Throttling." Within this section, you will find the "Size limit for folder download (MB, 0 for no limit)" setting, where the limit can be modified. However, it's important to monitor the performance of the Centrestack server closely after making any adjustments to this limit. Should any performance degradation be observed, it is advisable to lower the limit accordingly.
