In some cases, users may report that when they open a large folder in the Centrestack web portal, only the first 1,000 items are displayed, while the Windows Client shows all files and folders.
This behavior is expected for folders that contain a very large number of files and subfolders directly under a single parent folder. These are commonly referred to as flat folders.
Why this happens
Listing the contents of a flat folder can be expensive, especially when the data is stored in cloud storage. To protect web portal performance, Centrestack limits the number of items displayed in the web portal by default. As a result, only the first 1,000 items are shown.
Recommended solution
The preferred solution is to reorganize the folder structure so that fewer items exist directly under the top-level folder.
For example, instead of placing all files in one folder, create subfolders such as:
- A–E
- F–J
- K–O
- P–T
- U–Z
Then move the files into the appropriate subfolders. This reduces the number of items directly under the parent folder and helps improve web portal performance.
Alternative solution
You can also increase the number of items displayed in the web portal.
To change this setting, go to:
Settings > Clients & Applications > Web Portal
Then update the setting:
Show max count of file/folder items
Important note
Increasing this value may cause slower performance in the web portal, especially for very large flat folders.
