With the latest Centrestack, when any device hits sync failure, the admin will see it on the Dashboard. Centrestack will send a notification email as a warning. The failed task will be auto-retried.
The sync failure notification will tell you which device hits the failure.
Please visit the device and check the System Sync Task status. If all tasks are running fine, you can ignore the notification. The auto-retry has fixed it. If not:
- If the task is just paused, please resume it.
- If the System Sync Task failed, please check the Pending Retry subtask list. The list shows what subtasks fail.
Some common causes for sync failure:
- The user has no permission to upload files to the cloud folder. You can log in to the web portal and check whether the user can upload a text file to the folder.
- The account is full, so no file can be uploaded. It can be checked from the web portal too. After logging web portal, check the storage usage for the account.
- The user has no permission to read the files in the source folder. Check the files in the source folder. Make sure the user who starts the Windows client/server agent service has permission to read the file. And the file is not encrypted.
- Make sure the file is not locked in the cloud if the task is to upload a file.
- If the source is a shared folder attached to Centrestack directly, make sure the password for the user configured to connect to the shared folder is correct. Can edit the share login credentials in Team Folders
. If you don't think your failure is caused by any problem above, please retry the System Sync Task.
To retry the task, open the Windows client/server agent management console. From the Devices menu, click the pencil icon to manage the device. Under the Device Info tab, click the wrench icon in the Sync Status box to access the Task Manager.
For old versions, click the device name and select Task Manager.
On the latest Windows client/server agent, in the management console, go to Sync Status.
If there is any failed task, you can click Retry to retry the task. Or click Details to open Task Manager.
In the task manager, check the status for 'System Sync Task'. Check the number of 'Pending' and 'Failed'.
Click 'Failed Tasks' to see the list of failed subtasks here.
Click 'Start' or 'Resume' for the System Sync Task to re-run it.
If the task still fails, help us to collect audit trace (instruction here) and dbgview trace (instruction here) during the retry.
Please send the following info to us:
- Windows client/server agent version
- The Pending Retry subtask list in the System Sync Task
- The audit DB/dbgview traces.
We will check the traces.
. Admin can disable the sync failure email from the notification manager.
In the new UI, the notification manager is under Settings > Notification > Settings
