Issue:
User notices windows client or server agent keeps downloading data
Solution:
1. Check whether there are offline folder defined. When offline folders are defined, windows client/server agent will download files to cache automatically, for offline access. The download will continue until all files are in cache. After that, when the application notices new files/file changes on the cloud, it will download the files to cache. If this is the case, need to disable offline folder.
There are 3 places where offline folder can be defined.
a. Open windows client/server agent management console. Go to 'Offline Folders', to check the offline folders defined explicitly.
b. If the user is a regular user, not tenant admin, need to check whether the user has offline folder enabled for all folders. To check it, on User Manager, edit the user. Go to Storage tab and check the flag 'Enable offline access for all folders'
c. Check whether any subfolder for team folder has offline enabled. To check it, as tenant admin on web portal, right click the folder and select 'Manage folder (team edition, permission, ...)'. Here, go to 'Folder Permissions'.
Here, click the Edit button to edit the permission.
When edit the team folder, select 'Enable offline access for native Client'. It will enable the folder as offline folder for all native clients.
2. If you do need offline access, make sure the cache is big enough to hold all the offline data. If there is a cache size limit defined and the size is not big enough to hold the offline data, or if the drive where the cache folder resides is almost full, a new thread will kick in, to purge cached data. In this case, while the cached data is purged, the offline folder process will download the files to cache again. Thus the download will run endlessly.
The fix is to make the cache size limit larger, or move the cache folder to a drive with enough space.
